ABOUT MY WORK

My hat making began in Tokyo, Japan. I studied at Salon de Chappeau, and at first began handcrafting hats for myself and a few friends. Later I sold some of my hats in the fashionable Vogue Hat Shop in Ginza, Tokyo, the most prestigious in Japan.
My hats were shown in fashion shows at Tokyo American Club, and other venues, notably on the inaugural Continental Airlines flight from Tokyo to Seattle, along with the modeling of fur coats created by Sanae Cropp, the late Tokyo designer. Currently I limit my hat making to custom creations for a private clientele. If you should have need for that special hat, I will be happy to work with you.

My paintings are mostly watercolor, but you will notice a distinctly unique use of color. I think this is an expression of passion I have for the subject matter, which centers for the most part around golf and jazz. These are truly two of the great pleasures of my life, and it is only natural that these feelings should be reflected in my art. I have painted many great golfers and teachers, some of whom own my paintings. I have also spent a considerable portion of my life trying to perfect my own swing, as any member of The Palms Golf Club in La Quinta, California, can attest, so I understand golfers and what they go through. I hope that this too shows in my work.

I also work in pastels and in ink(both color and black and white) when either the mood or the subject seem to call for that treatment. To see a comprehensive sampling of all my art work, please visit my primary gallery which is in a restaurant called Cactus Jack's Bar and Grill in Indio, California.

If after browsing through this website you are interested in owning a piece of my work, whether an original or print, or if you should be interested in commisioned work, perhaps to immortalize your own golf swing, or the hole where you scored an ace, or won a tournament, please contact me at (760) 771-2400. or E-mail me.
